Growing Fresh Market Strawberries
The Oregon Strawberry Commission with the help of Oregon Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant funds and the Northwest Berry Foundation administered a series of projects to explore the Oregon Fresh Strawberry industry. Growing, harvesting, cooling/postharvest handling, marketing, and grower/buyer relationships were the main educational components explored for fresh market production. Buyer and consumer awareness via taste tests of newer strawberry varieties were conducted to create a better understanding of the unique Pacific Northwest growing region, highlighting those varieties that grow best in the Oregon environment. Below are the articles that were created for the Oregon Strawberry Fresh Market Production Guide.
